TREATMENT FOR THOSE WHO ARE

CLENCHING & GRINDING

Clenching & Grinding

We Can Help

Often, this is the first sign of a TMJ problem. It can cause aches and even chipped teeth.

Your teeth should rarely touch. The only time they should touch is during swallowing, which can total minutes during an entire day. Even during chewing, there’s usually food that prevents the teeth from meeting, except when grinding fine grains. So, should your teeth always be together, that can be a problem.

The typical solution for grinding and clenching is wearing a ‘night guard’. While some night guards are fine, should there be an underlying airway or TMJ issue, a traditional night guard, especially the do-it-yourself kinds, can actually cause trouble.

We have seen shifting bites and worsening TMJ problems with regular night guards. It’s just another reason that we chose to limit our practice to helping people with these issues, as it requires a different level of expertise, than is usually taught in dental school.

We have literally taken hundreds of hours of specialized classes just to be able to bring our community the best possible care.
